The selfhelphipster has more to say about yoga than I do right now...

I have been on my mat lately but I haven't been making much time to write/blog about ye olde yoga. However Lianne from The self help hipster has been writing about yoga. Check out her free pdf about her yoga journey - it's great! http://theselfhelphipster.com/?p=1059

recipe for yogadisaster

Ok, yogadisaster (or should it be yogasaster?) may be a big of an exaggeration. I was off my mat for 5 days. I was feeling under the weather for about 3 of those days. I had too big of a snack after work. Take all of those ingredients and mix them together and you have a rather unpleasant yoga class... and yet an absolutely perfect yoga class because it was a yoga class I actually attended. I just need to show up at yoga as much as possible. More is better.

25!

The 30 Day Challenge is officially over. I officially did not do 30 classes, but I did do 25 and I think that's rad.

amateur night at ye olde yoga studio

Class 24. One day to go... one class to go. Hopefully it's better than tonight's class which was probably the worst class of the month. It was like I had forgotten everything I know about the yoga. I had too much to eat between work and yoga. I thought drinking water was going to save me. I was going loco in my head with my usual 'what would it take to get some air in here' thoughts. It was really not that pleasant.

In other news, I'm trying to figure out a vacay for fall... There are lots of fun options - visiting my friend C. who moved to Sydney or my other friend C. who moved to London... or maybe Bikram yoga in Phuket Thailand... http://bikramyogaphuket.com/bikramyoga_holiday.htm

The subconscious wants what the subconscious wants...

Yesterday was class #22. I have little to no memory of it. I know I was there but I have no comment on it because I can barely remember it. Today's class (23) was a bit more memorable because it happened less than an hour ago. I wasn't really enjoying class per se, but I was surviving so I thought. Then second set of fixed firm comes along and instead I started doing head to knee with stretching. Didn't work though - I made eye contact with the instructor and she was looking at me like 'WTF are you doing?!?' and she didn't agree with my subconscious that thought camel and rabbit should be skipped.
In other news, I've reached the point in the challenge where hydration and nutrition are falling by the wayside a bit. Argh. Oh well.
Just three more days!

21!

For those of you keeping track at home, you may be noticing a slight discrepancy between the date and the class count. Yes, that's a thing. Friday I was absolutely exhausted from the work week and yesterday I spent time with friends and friends' babies. But I was back on my mat this morning. I practiced with my mom. Here's to hoping that I'm still doing yoga when I'm my mom's age!

Funny yoga tweet

Just saw this on Twitter and I was amused by it...

@Kendragarden: I don't use my yoga certification to teach yoga, I use it to let bitches know I'm more flexible than they are.

Namaste, bitches.

19!

Not much to say about tonight's class. I went in as an angry yogi and left as a tired yogi. My hips and knees were feeling a little jangly but other than that, all is well.
Namaste.

My yoga challenge can vote!

Yesterday was class #18 for me! Woo hoo!
Not much to report. I laughed, I cried, I did yoga. Actually I don't think I laughed or cried, but I did do yoga. And I figured out a new way to wear my hair during class. Doing lots of yoga makes me want to shave my head, but I don't think my coworkers or my hair stylist would be in favor of that... so weird low tucked under pigtails it is!

day 17

Good class tonight. Crazy day because I didn't go home in between work and yoga. Now I am oh so tired. Going to go to bed after I finish this post even though it's at least an hour earlier than I normally go to bed. Overall, my body has held up pretty good with this challenge. I have a couple of theories about why I'm feeling better than I did the other times I've done lots of yoga... 1. coconut water is bullshit. My recovery beverage of choice these days is Coca-cola and I think it is magical. I drink an 8 or 12 oz can of Coke after almost every class and it makes me feel alive, much more so than the coconut water ever did! I used to get leg cramps fairly regularly and it's only happened once this month and that was the night I ran 3 miles and then did yoga. For me, the electrolytes (and sugar) in Coke seem to replenish my body better than coconut water, gatorade and/or juice boxes ever did. 2. (and this is the real difference) I think getting in my car and driving after yoga was not good for my body. These days, I walk home after yoga and I think it helps keep my body a bit more stretched out after class.
